Community Art Space Opportunities

The Mornington Peninsula Shire provides community art spaces where local artists can display their artworks and gain exposure within the community.

Through this program we promote awareness and appreciation of our creatives as well as making these spaces more stimulating and engaging for the general public.

Individual and group exhibition applications are invited from local artists primarily producing two-dimensional artworks and some limited three-dimensional space by arrangement.  We have two outstanding venues available with more being added over the coming months.

Through this program we aim to:

  • Promote awareness and appreciation of our creative communities
  • Assist artists to develop and exhibit work
  • Provide diverse, high-quality and accessible creative experiences for audiences
  • Ensure that our public spaces are stimulating and engaging for visitors
  • Support collaboration and creative learning for our community

The Arts and Cultural Development team are currently working to develop additional community exhibition spaces across the Shire. If you have any ideas, feedback or suggestions please contact us at artsandculture@mornpen.vic.gov.au

Mornington Library -Tier One

The foyer exhibition space at the Mornington Library is a prominent community area for local artists to display original works. This space attracts over 3000 visitors per week and comprises three walls with ten running metres of hanging space and a display window opportunity for non-hanging physical displays.

Each exhibition period runs for approximately 6 weeks.

We welcome applications from emerging, mid-career and established individuals, collective and groups who live or work on the Mornington Peninsula. We endeavour to showcase artists whose portfolio of works draws inspiration from the local region and its community.

  • Promotion via the Shire’s Arts and Culture website, our social media pages, eNEWs distributed to subscribers and some other communication channels.
