Darker

Darker is a conversation between five young women, that exposes the sometimes murky undercurrent to living on the Mornington Peninsula.
Women aged 16-20 years perform this phone filmed version, which was originally a theatrical piece created by Melanie Beddie, Carole Patullo, Jane Bayly and Dreamhouse Theatre Company ensemble members.
Darker grew from stories shared by Mornington Peninsula women at A Woman’s Place 2015-2019, a mini festival celebrating local women’s stories, creatively produced by Anthea Mackenzie with Dreamhouse Theatre Company.
Darker was was first performed in the 2019 promenade theatre event ‘When The Birds Come In’, at the Southern Peninsula Arts Centre. The online performance of Darker will premiere on the Dreamhouse Theatre Company Facebook page on Wednesday 25 November at 7:00pm.
Darker is presented as part of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, an international campaign to eliminate gender-based violence and discrimination.
