In celebration of International Women's Day and HERstory: Women of the Mornington Peninsula public art initiative, we are proud to launch the new Community Art Space in Hastings with the photographic exhibition This Girl Can.

This Girl Can Week, led by VicHealth, advocates for all women, cis, trans, non-binary, and gender diverse to get active in supportive and welcoming environments. The campaign celebrates diversity and aims to empower all women and girls to enjoy the benefits of being active and feeling comfortable moving their bodies, no matter their identity, age, fitness level, or ability.

The Mornington Peninsula Shire proudly supports This Girl Can and celebrates every woman's right to be active, focusing on how it makes you feel: strong, confident, and proud! This initiative is part of the Shire's commitment to promoting wellbeing and achieving gender equality, as highlighted in our Council and Wellbeing Plan and Gender Equality Strategy.

In November 2024, we invited women and girls across the Peninsula to showcase their active lifestyles, regardless of age, size, background, or ability. We received an incredible response, with women and girls sharing their active lives and celebrating the joy and empowerment that comes from physical activity.
