About the Program

Hosted by Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Arts and Culture Team, the competition is open to emerging and established songwriters and musicians living on the Mornington Peninsula.  The competition celebrates the lush landscapes, vibrant communities, and sustainable living of the Mornington Peninsula's iconic green wedge areas. Whether you're inspired by the rolling hills, pristine beaches, or the sense of community that thrives within these green spaces, this competition invites musicians of all genres and backgrounds to channel their inspiration into song. Embrace the beauty and diversity of the Mornington Peninsula's green wedge regions and let your musical talents shine. Entries will be judged not only on musical prowess but also on lyrical creativity and the ability to capture the essence of the green wedge lifestyle.

What’s the scoop?

Picture our rural area (the Green Wedge): think rolling hills, lush pastures, vineyards, bushlands and meandering streams. Let your musical muse roam free! We invite you, whether solo or in collaboration, to compose a song celebrating these landscapes.

Why is the Green Wedge important

Our Green Wedge stands as a vital asset in Victoria, encompassing nearly 50,000 hectares. The Green Wedge plays a crucial role in safeguarding biodiversity, cultural heritage and picturesque landscapes. It also supports agricultural productivity, provide ample open space, and offers opportunities for recreation and tourism.
