AND THE WINNERS ARE…
Results are in for our first Green Wedge Songwriting competition. With only 4 weeks to compose a tune celebrating the precious Green Wedge rural areas of our Mornington Peninsula, the judges were overwhelmed by the high standard of entries received and everyone should be extremely proud.
Thanks to our esteemed judging panel which included Tracee Hutchison (Green Music Australia & Radio presenter), James Young (musician/music manager), Phil Ceberano & Alan Long (Rock Academy), and Fay Burstin (Music Victoria).
1st place: Maxon & Like Bear “Everything is Green”

About the Program
Hosted by Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Arts and Culture Team, the competition is open to emerging and established songwriters and musicians living on the Mornington Peninsula. The competition celebrates the lush landscapes, vibrant communities, and sustainable living of the Mornington Peninsula's iconic green wedge areas. Whether you're inspired by the rolling hills, pristine beaches, or the sense of community that thrives within these green spaces, this competition invites musicians of all genres and backgrounds to channel their inspiration into song. Embrace the beauty and diversity of the Mornington Peninsula's green wedge regions and let your musical talents shine. Entries will be judged not only on musical prowess but also on lyrical creativity and the ability to capture the essence of the green wedge lifestyle.

The Green Wedge plays a crucial role in safeguarding biodiversity, cultural heritage and picturesque landscapes. It also supports agricultural productivity, provide ample open space, and offers opportunities for recreation and tourism.
