Connect and paint in nature with Peninsula Plein Air Painting Group.

The Peninsula Plein Air Painting Group is an independent community group formed on the Mornington Peninsula over two decades ago.

Plein air painting involves creating art in the open air, directly in front of the subject. It’s an approach similar to that used by French impressionists, allowing the artist to capture the changing light, mood, and colours of nature in real-time.

Every Thursday, the group ventures to various locations across the Mornington Peninsula, creating works that celebrate the region’s striking coastal views, rugged landscapes, and iconic landmarks.

There are currently 32 members ranging from beginners to professional artists, with the group always looking for new members to learn and create together. Those interested in joining should contact the group’s president, Digby Smyth, on 0490 154 137, or connect via the group’s Facebook page, Peninsula Plein Air Painting Group.

Their works are currently on exhibition to browse or purchase at Your Local Connection Point, Red Hill, open Thursdays from 9am-5pm.
