This building on the Esplanade Mornington served as the Mornington Post Office for 100 years. Designed by William Wardell in Palladian style and built by William Baynes of Dromana in 1863/4 with handmade bricks at a cost of 825 pounds.
Vacated by the Post Master General’s Dept. (PMG) in 1964, it became the home of the Mornington & District Historical Society and opened as a Museum in 1968 tracing the history of the district plus postal and communication memorabilia.
