Heritage and Art Bus Tours wrap up a month of culture and connection

Every stop told a story.

This October, Mornington Peninsula Shire’s sold-out Heritage and Art Bus Tour series took local seniors on a journey through the Peninsula’s rich history and creative spirit.

Over five half-day tours, participants travelled in comfort to explore museums, galleries, and heritage sites – with guided insights, light lunches, and time to relax and connect along the way. The tours showcased some of the region’s much-loved cultural gems, from the collections of the Flinders and Dromana Historical Societies to the historic Mornington Tourist Railway.

Travellers also explored the art and creativity of the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Everywhen Gallery and Oak Hill Gallery, before finishing the series at McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park, and Coolart Wetlands and Homestead. Each stop offered a glimpse into the stories, people, and places that shape the Peninsula, bringing together community members to celebrate heritage and creativity. Delivered as part of Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Positive Ageing program, the tours created opportunities for social connection and discovery – reminding everyone that exploring our shared culture can be as rewarding as the destinations themselves.
