Mornington Community Art Space - This Artful Life

Students aged 7 to 16 from This Artful Life explore the idea that everyone needs a home, considering homelessness alongside the loss of habitat for koalas. Through painting, drawing, mixed media and felting, the students explore their local environment and connection to place.

As part of the project, the students photographed the Mornington Peninsula before cutting their images into sections, each completing a piece that was later reassembled into a whole. Working collaboratively, they explored how individual contributions can come together to create something greater, reflecting the importance of teamwork.

The sale of their artworks will support two local organisations: the Mornington Peninsula Koala Conservation Group, with funds supporting tree planting, and Southern Peninsula Community Support, supporting women on the Mornington Peninsula who are experiencing homelessness or sleeping rough.

About This Artful Life:

Based in Mornington, This Artful Life is a visual arts education studio led by artist and educator Katrina Frazer. The bespoke curriculum provides young people with the opportunity to explore visual art through term classes and holiday workshops.

With more than 30 years’ experience teaching visual arts across primary, secondary and adult education, Katrina creates engaging learning experiences that encourage students to develop their skills while discovering their own creative voice.

Through a focus on the process of making, students build confidence and curiosity while developing a deeper understanding of visual art.
