Celebrate NAIDOC Week across the Mornington Peninsula’s Community Art Spaces with powerful works by First Nations artists and young people.
At Somerville and Hastings Community Art Spaces, view artworks from the Tounnin Wominjeka Youth Hub Public Art Project. Led by Sammy Trist in collaboration with local First Nations youth, this project celebrates community, identity, and culture through a large-scale mural design. The final work—reflecting the voices and shared stories of young people across the Peninsula—will be unveiled at a special community event:

About Sammy Trist
Experience the work of proud Taungurung woman and multidisciplinary local artist Sammy Trist, who brings together tradition and innovation through ochre painting and storytelling. Sammy’s vibrant practice, informed by over 30 years in education, inspires connection, learning, and cultural pride. See her exhibition at the Mornington Community Art Space which includes pages from her popular Wonga colouring book—developed in collaboration with MPRG—which introduces children to Kulin Nation language and local flora and fauna.
