CREATE presents Illustrating with Watercolours

Learn to create expressive illustrations and characters with published children’s book illustrator Karen Erasmus. In this three hour workshop you’ll explore techniques in watercolour to paint lively illustrative artworks. Learn to develop your own style and gain confidence in drawing and painting characters, composition and storytelling. All materials are provided and you are also welcome to bring your own brushes and watercolours. Join us for a relaxed, creative session and leave feeling motivated to continue painting with watercolours and developing your storytelling. Perfect for beginners or more experienced artists who are curious about illustration.

Karen Erasmus is a childrens’ book illustrator based on the Mornington Peninsula. She has been illustrating books since 2012 and enjoys running workshops in schools and libraries across Victoria. Originally from the UK she migrated here with her young children over 20 years ago. Her illustrations are often inspired by the local countryside and animals. Her most recent books include ‘Wombat Poos Are Square’ written by Sophie Gillies and ‘Maggie Makes a Moves’ written by Laura Motherway. When she’s not drawing and painting Karen lives with three dogs and seven chickens and loves walking and cycling.
CREATE is an innovative creative workshop program run by Mornington Peninsula Shire Arts and Culture to provide low-cost workshops for the local community to engage with the arts.
