CREATE presents Lost Wax Masterclass Series for Intermediate Jewellers

A three-session masterclass delivered across two weekends, led by jeweller Georgia Symmons of Tyet Designs.

Session 1 & 2 — Saturday 23 May, 10am–5pm
(with a break for lunch)

Session 1 — Stone-in-Place and Bezel Settings (Wax)
Build on your existing skills as you explore stone-in-place design and wax construction techniques. You’ll carve and form wax models suitable for casting, create bezel settings with an understanding of shrinkage and metal flow, and consider stone selection and placement.

Outcome: A resolved wax model incorporating a stone-in-place or bezel-set design, ready for casting.

Session 2 — Drip Wax and Found-Object Mould Making
Explore expressive drip wax techniques alongside mould making using natural found objects such as shells or leaves. Learn how to prepare objects safely, create silicone moulds, and develop wax components with attention to scale and wearability.

Outcome: A silicone mould and a series of wax components ready for casting and design integration.

Session 3 — Saturday 30 May, 10am–1pm

Polishing and Finishing
Bring your cast pieces to life through careful finishing. You’ll refine surfaces using files and abrasives, explore polished and matte finishes, and complete a final presentation-ready piece.

Outcome: A finished, wearable jewellery piece with a professional finish.

Between Sessions 2 and 3, your wax pieces will be sent offsite for professional casting before returning for finishing.
