CREATE presents. … Linocut workshop with Billy Nye

Sunday 15 March

Currawong Community Centre, Mornington

10am-1:00pm

Cost: $30 pp

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to transfer an image onto lino using the right tools to get your block ready for carving. We’ll start with a relaxed introduction to lino tools and how to use them safely before jumping into the carving process.

Carving will take around an hour. The tutor will then demonstrate how to roll out ink using a rubber roller, followed by hand-printing techniques. You’ll also be shown different barens that can be used to print successfully without a press.

Everyone will finish the workshop with two prints and their carved lino block to take home. This class is a great hands-on introduction to linocutting and will give you a solid understanding of the tools and techniques used in printmaking.

Billy Nye is a Mornington Peninsula–based artist specialising in linocut, printmaking, painting, and digital art. Her linocut workshops are relaxed, hands-on and suitable for all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced artists. Billy guides participants step-by-step through the full process — from developing an image and carving the lino to inking and hand-printing. The workshop introduces accessible printmaking techniques, including ways to print without a press, making linocut achievable anywhere. With a strong focus on creativity, confidence and enjoyment, participants leave with finished prints and practical skills they can continue using at home.
