The Mornington Peninsula Creators Network is joining forces with Creative Plus Business which is a social enterprise dedicated to educating creative people and arts organisations about business skills.

Monica Davidson, founder of Creative Plus Business, is an award-winning expert in the creative industries.

Starting as a freelance filmmaker, writer, and performer, she noticed creatives were often unprepared for business challenges. After earning a Masters in Screen Arts and Business from AFTRS in 2013, she became Australia’s first Creative Industries Business Advisor.

Monica founded Creative Plus Business in 2016, growing it to support thousands of creatives. She was listed in AFR’s 100 Women of Influence and received QUT’s Creative Trailblazer Award.

Feedback from the day

More than 30 creatives gathered for the one-day ‘Financial Management for Creatives’ event during the Small Business Festival on Tuesday 13 August. The atmosphere at Studio and Co in Moorooduc was electric, and valuable insights were exchanged. Special thanks to Monica from Creative Plus Business, as well as panellists Debbie Mackenzie, Joshua Searle, and Leigh Houliston for sharing their expertise.

In the words of our creatives:

@kellilundberg.art A standout for me was host Monica Davidson’s advice to emerging artists: “Talent at a certain level is a given, but it’s character that brings the best to the fore.”

@tashcarahphotographer A fantastic day and Monica was such an engaging speaker! Thank you so much to the organisers & hosts
