Mural by James Gulliver Hancock - Somerville
Mural by James Gulliver Hancock - Somerville
Illustrator and fine artist James Gulliver Hancock worked with students from Somerville Primary School to create a new mural at the newly upgraded Barber Reserve playground. James’ brief was to create a piece that links to the natural environment; that reflects connection to nature and the lands and waters around Somerville.
Students requested fauna such as koalas, bees, dragonflies, microbats, hooded plovers and even a ‘bin chicken’ which they have noticed frequenting the area more recently! Some students were lucky enough to meet with James while he was painting and assisted with the creation!
