Overview

This painting is not one which tells a story but reflects a conversation I had with two senior Bardi men from Ardyaloon (One Arm Point) in Western Australia. The conversation was about their first Turtle Hunt and how excited they were, and that they now teach the young men how to do it in a culturally sensitive, ecologically sustainable way.

Glenn is a proud Plangermairreenner (Tasmania) and Bunurong (Victoria) Aboriginal man, strongly connected to Community and Culture. Glenn was born on Flinders Island, Tasmania in 1958 and started painting as a teenager.

The Mornington Peninsula Shire / NBN Co Aboriginal Art Node Project is a partnership to cover seventeen NBN node cabinets across thirteen townships with Aboriginal art wraps from 6 local Aboriginal groups/organisations including Bunurong Land Council, Balee Group, Baluk Arts, Bunjilwarra, Living Culture and Willum Warrain.

This project aims to support and increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and organisations on the Mornington Peninsula and celebrate a sense of place and the importance of storytelling through art.
