Overview

At the base of a waterfall, where the water cascades down to its violent arrival as it meets the waters below. I sit and reflect on my heritage, so intimately tied to the earth and water, it is a beautiful dance that nature provides.

Norrell Doak is 5th generation Aboriginal, through her 5 x Great Grand Mother Eliza Nowen who was a Bunurong woman from Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula. Norrell grew up in the wheatbelt town of Southern Cross, Western Australia and has lived in Perth, Western Australia her entire adult life. Norrell enjoys spending time at the beach, dancing and painting.

The Mornington Peninsula Shire / NBN Co Aboriginal Art Node Project is a partnership to cover seventeen NBN node cabinets across thirteen townships with Aboriginal art wraps from 6 local Aboriginal groups/organisations including Bunurong Land Council, Balee Group, Baluk Arts, Bunjilwarra, Living Culture and Willum Warrain.

This project aims to support and increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and organisations on the Mornington Peninsula and celebrate a sense of place and the importance of storytelling through art.
