Mornington Lifesaving Club

In 1914, the serene shores of Mills Beach in Mornington became the birthplace of a transformative initiative—the Mornington Life Saving Club (MLSC). Amidst the backdrop of rising community consciousness about water safety, one figure stood out: Olga Bieri, a passionate advocate who wove her personal commitment to life-saving into the very fabric of the club’s founding and early success.

Olga Bieri – a trailblazing woman whose vision and determination helped shape its future. At a time when women’s roles in surf lifesaving were far from recognised, Olga’s leadership and advocacy set a powerful example, proving that skill, courage, and commitment knew no gender.

Her legacy lives on today in the many women who patrol our beaches, train the next generation, and lead both in and out of the water. From our Nippers coaches to our competitive Boaties, women continue to play a vital role in keeping the community safe and the club strong.
