Photography Exhibition by Jay Coburn

Exhibition Title: Colourblind Creations

Tuesday 3 March – Tuesday 31 March 2026

Artist Statement:

This collection of twenty-eight aerial photographs showcase the Mornington Peninsulas incredible diversity and beauty — one of the few places outside of Western Australia that gets to experience sunsets over water.

From the tidal contours of Port Phillip Bay, to the rugged edges of Bass Strait, these works explore the intersection between land, sea and people. Where erosion, tide, and time leave visible signatures across sand, rock, land and water. Shot at varying altitudes and conditions, the series highlights the Peninsula by lifting the vantage point so the ordinary becomes artistic, shorelines resemble brushstrokes, sandbars become sculptures, and farmland patterns reveal quiet symmetry. This body of work invites viewers to see and recognise places they know intimately, but from a new perspective.
