A new kind of networking event is launching on the Mornington Peninsula – and it’s made for our music community who are craving a more meaningful, less intimidating connection.

Pinny Links is presented by the MP Music Industry as part of the Make Music Matter initiative.

Building a strong, supportive and skilled network is an essential aspect of growing and sustaining a career in the music industry. With almost 700 APRA-registered songwriters on the Mornington Peninsula, the potential for connection and shared learning is significant.

Networking is not a one size fits all and can be a daunting or draining experience for some creatives. Enter Pinny Links - approachable, conversation-focussed networking events for music industry professionals. Designed to be low impact, low stress and kind to your social battery; while still helping you meet other creatives in your community.

The first come and try session will be held on Sunday 17 August at Commonfolk, Mornington.

More about Pinny Links

Pinny Links is the brainchild of local folk-pop artist and creative producer Tig. It offers a refreshing alternative to traditional networking events, with a focus on conversation and collaboration in calm, approachable environments.

“I’ve always found traditional networking kind of overwhelming,” says Tig. “The only time it’s ever felt good was during the ‘hot seat’ chats at the 2024 MP Music Summit. It was quiet, we had time to talk one-on-one, and I walked away with real, lasting connections."

It was a lightbulb moment. Realising it wasn’t networking she resisted – just the way it’s usually done – Tig created Pinny Links as a softer alternative for music industry creatives who prefer deeper conversations over the usual busy-room banter.

Pinny Links is intentionally low-stress, low-stakes, and socially accessible. Guests are seated in random groups of three and invited to chat over a relaxed drink, with an hour to explore shared ideas, creative challenges or simply get to know each other. The format allows for deeper dialogue without the pressure of rapid-fire introductions or elevator pitches.

With a long career in events and project management across corporate, not-for-profit and music sectors, Tig brings her trademark wholesome energy to this new community-building initiative. She has a way of ensuring attendees walk in feeling curious and walk away feeling wondrous whilst creating a welcoming and supportive environment for creative discussion.

Whether you’re an emerging artist or seasoned performer, sound engineer or venue booker, Pinny Links is a gentle way to expand your circle – and maybe even spark your next creative collaboration. Together, we can Make Music Matter.
