Public Art EOI: International Women's Day
Artists wanted to bring ephemeral art to Rye for International Women’s Day 2026
International Women’s Day 2026 – Rye Community Grow & Play Garden
Mornington Peninsula Shire invites expressions of interest from artists or collectives to create a temporary, site-responsive public artwork to mark International Women’s Day 2026, aligned with the global theme Balance the Scales.
The commissioned work will be installed in the Rye Community Grow and Play Garden—a site of powerful transformation, formerly a women’s refuge and now a community space for growth, care, and connection. We welcome proposals that explore themes of gender equity, resilience, community care, renewal, and the gendered impacts of climate change.
Artists may work across installation, sculptural, sensory, or environmentally responsive forms, using sustainable and ephemeral materials.
This commission offers a fee of $10,000 (ex GST) and the opportunity to contribute to a broader Shire-led public program of talks, workshops, and activations.
EOIs close: Sunday 21 December 2025 at 11.59pm
