Funding Amount: $8,150

Rising star of the fine art world, Joshua Searle created a street art piece using a stencil image. The project allowed members of the community to connect with the medium of spray paint and the subject of the work. The stencil is of a Colombian gold mask held in the British Museum. The end result is a collaborative street artwork in the Flinders Village.

‍Born and raised on the Mornington Peninsula, Joshua Searle’s work involves an examination into socio-cultural issues, diasporic identity, and existence.  Primarily a painter, Searle uses a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil stick, oil pastel, enamel, and spray paint on canvas.

‍Searle has undertaken several commissions with the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery 2022-23. In 2023 he was a finalist in the Sir John Sulman Prize, AGNSW.
