Bush Dancing classes - Positive Ageing

Dance is the perfect pastime for everyone, and especially seniors because classes can cater for all fitness levels and abilities. We’re creating a safe and comfortable space to learn something new and take up a fun challenge.

Whether you have previous dance experience or are a complete beginner, these classes are suitable for all skill levels. Our friendly and experienced instructors will guide you through the steps and help you embrace the joy of dancing.

Bush Dances are a time honoured and unique Australian cultural invention that were extremely popular in the 1970s and 1980s and remain so today. With roots in early settlement, Bush Dancing was initially influenced by the styles and customs of the early settlers but evolved to be a mix of the early colonial style and dances from Europe and America, as the miners and settlers came to Australia. It became the form of social dancing that was popular in both the country and the city, but only got its name during the folk revival in the 1950’s.

So, put on your dancing shoes and come join us for four memorable afternoons filled with music and laughter. Don’t miss out on this chance to connect with others and experience the joy of Bush dancing. The last class on Saturday the 2nd of March will be an open invite to friends and family to showcase what you have learnt. We look forward to seeing you there!

What to bring: Comfortable shoes, clothes to move in and a water bottle
