Liwik Biik represents the journey across Kulin country with hands of acknowledging Bundjil’s lore. The fine lines symbolise the bloodlines and veins of our ancestors still living in us and guiding us on our journey, The white river connects our spirit to our community and place if we are not physically there and we carry knowledge to share with others on liwik biik (ancestors country).

Cassie Leatham is a Wurundjeri/Taungurung woman and an artist and workshop facilitator at Baluk Arts. Her culture is intimately entwined in all her creative and educational activities, her days spent preparing raw materials, Indigenous herbs, dyes, and ornamental objects. She is a master weaver, carrying on traditions passed to her through family and other mentors.

The Mornington Peninsula Shire / NBN Co Aboriginal Art Node Project is a partnership to cover seventeen NBN node cabinets across thirteen townships with Aboriginal art wraps from 6 local Aboriginal groups/organisations including Bunurong Land Council, Balee Group, Baluk Arts, Bunjilwarra, Living Culture and Willum Warrain.

This project aims to support and increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and organisations on the Mornington Peninsula and celebrate a sense of place and the importance of storytelling through art.
