The Gifts of Flowers by N’Dene Riley, 2022
Address: 67 Byrnes Road, Shoreham VIC 3916
The Red Flower with the symbols is within the garden with a black background. This reminds me to always be with the flowers when they bloom, to give and receive flowers. This first flower I gave to myself when no-one else had!
N’dene Riley is a descendent of the Aboriginal Peoples of Tasmania. She paints animal characters and plant life that surrounds her on the Mornington Peninsula.
Mornington Peninsula Shire in partnership with NBN Co commissioned First Nations artists to develop designs for seventeen NBN node cabinets across thirteen townships. Local First Nations groups and organisations including Bunurong Land Council, Balee Group, Baluk Arts, Bunjilwarra, Living Culture and Willum Warrain worked with artists to deliver the project.
This project aimed to support and increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and organisations on the Mornington Peninsula and celebrate a sense of place and the importance of storytelling
