Clara Hannah Heginbotham (1866- 1932)

Clara Hannah Heginbotham, born in Tyabb in 1866, became a pioneering figure in Mornington’s healthcare history. Long before the town had its present hospital, Clara ran her own private hospital, "Nurse Allison’s," where she became a trusted caregiver to many. Her hospital, a beacon of care in the community, saw the birth of numerous babies, with Clara personally tending to countless families over the years.

As a skilled nurse, Clara’s contributions went far beyond childbirth—she played an integral role in Mornington’s healthcare long before modern medical facilities were established.

In 1887, Clara married David Allison, and together they raised ten children: Lily, Herbert, James, Rose, Ada, Ernest, Kenneth, Frank, Elsie, and Dorothy. Clara passed away in 1932, but her legacy of compassionate care and dedication to her community lives on.
