Public Art: Call for First Nations artists

Mornington Peninsula Shire invites Expressions of Interest from First Nations visual artists across Australia to create a temporary large-scale vinyl decal artwork for the StoryWall site in Mornington.
This commission offers an opportunity to present a contemporary First Nations artwork that reflects connection to Country, culture, and community within a prominent civic space.
About the Opportunity
Open to emerging, mid-career, and established Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists working across all visual art forms, this project supports the creation of a bold, site-responsive artwork for a highly visible public location.
Context
Located on Bunurong Country, the Mornington Peninsula is a place of deep cultural and ecological significance, with ongoing custodianship by the Bunurong people. The StoryWall provides a platform to share powerful visual narratives with both local communities and visitors.
The Commission
- Temporary vinyl decal artwork (10m wide wall)
- Installed at Mornington Shire Office, 2 Queen Street
- Exhibition dates: 13 November – 28 February
- Fabrication and installation managed by Council

- Up to 5 images of previous work
- Availability (May–June 2026)
Note: No concept proposal required at EOI stage.
Artist Fee
$5,000 (exc GST)
