Mornington Peninsula Shire has partnered with The Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS to deliver the Live and Local program, a 12-month project designed to strengthen the local live music community.

Meet Patrick Donovan

Paddy has worked in the music policy, advocacy and media sectors for the past 30 years, as the inaugural CEO of peak body Music Victoria, Music Writer for the Age, founder and executive producer of the Music Victoria Awards, and Director of Patrick Donnovan Creative Consultancy, which has delivered programming for festivals including White Night Ballarat and the Aireys Inlet Music Festival, as well as policy and market sounding papers, professional development summits and the current Mornington Peninsula Music Plan. He is soon to complete his 2 year contract as City of Port Phillip’s Live Music Lead position, where he delivered the Live Music Action Plan.  He plays in the band Repo Band.

Peninsula LIVE role:

The Peninsula LIVE Policy Consultant will help shape strategic policy that will support the long-term growth of the local music industry.

A deep understanding of the regulatory frameworks that impact the live music sector at local, state, and federal levels. Work closely with the Shire and the Peninsula LIVE Venue Liaison over 12 months to provide expert guidance and help develop a comprehensive Live Music Strategic Plan for the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and benchmarking existing council policies and identifying opportunities for better policy development.
  • Providing expert advice on regulatory frameworks, including planning, liquor licensing, and building codes.
  • Mentoring the Venue Liaison to build their capacity as a local advocate.
  • Informing the development of a long-term Live Music Action Plan for the Shire.
