Mornington Peninsula Shire has partnered with The Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS to deliver the Live and Local program, a 12-month project designed to strengthen the local live music community.

Peninsula LIVE: Venue Liaison

Meet Max Donahue.

Max is a musician and booker for several Melbourne based venues including The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar, The Tote Hotel & The Whalers Hotel in Warrnambool. Now based at Hastings, he has experience across many aspects of the live music industry and values the positive experiences the music community has offered over the last 10+ years.

I'm excited to be working on the live & local program in the area I have now called home for the past 5+ years. As many of my musical endeavours are mostly city or regional based, this will be a totally new experience for me! - Max Donahue

Peninsula LIVE Role:

Over 12 months, Max will work with the Shire to grow the capacity of local live music communities. He will be the key point of contact for new and existing venues, providing tailored guidance and support to help them introduce or improve their live music programming.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a business advice program for venues.
  • Programming and delivering two micro-festival events, matching local musicians with local businesses.
  • Building a database of musicians and venues.
  • Participating in a mentorship to better understand the regulatory frameworks impacting the live music industry.

This is a unique opportunity to use your expertise to build a vibrant and sustainable live music ecosystem. We're looking for someone with 4+ years of experience in events, live music, or arts programming, and a strong understanding of artist booking, venue development, and production.
